The Language of Vision

Winter 2009

I have been working on finalizing my body of work entitled “Sea of Faces” and I am in the process of submitting the work to several galleries this month.  Choosing the correct images to represent the story is a daunting task but I thought I would share a selection of the ones that I am considering.

    Nicole –

My favorite part is the repetition of ORANGE in every pic in this series…the use of orange in the blatant as well as the subtle…absolutely brilliant. – The moods you have captured (or achieved, however you want to look at it!) left me craving a quiet morning on the island. There are no words for those moments…one who has been there and experienced those moments totally ‘gets’ what I’m talking about and what we cannot put into words…you captured them visually and they say it all. Your work, as always is stunning. – And on a personal note… your dad is fantastic! LOVE LOVE LOVE that picture of him.

Seriously beautiful work, Nicole. Didn’t know you had this separate blog till tonight. I looked at all the posts, I really like your taste and the images you chose. I’ll keep checking this!

Well, I hesitated in responding and then thought, “what the heck”. Mostly because I have NO experience and also because they are truly amazing pictures, wonderfullyl done by a true artist. I am also uncertain of what is required of you and how many shots you need to include.

Having said all of that, here is my opinion: The first two shots seem more posed than all the rest. I really like the guys with the hats sitting together, I just almost wish there were three instead. I absolutely love the boat and the yellow coat shot just as much as I love the last one:)!!! I am a bit partial to the one of your father, just cause he is grand. They have a wonderful “natural” feel about them.

Them in their element and you in yours!

I am so proud of you.
